Date: Tuesday - August 29, 2017
Time: 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM

Conversation with Tracy Chiles McGhee '88, author of Melting the Blues: On Tuesday, August 29, from 5:00-5:45 p.m., we will host our first Facebook Live event, a meeting of The UHS Virtual Alumni Summer Book Club!

Melting the Blues, by award-winning author Tracy Chiles McGhee '88, is the inaugural selection for this new alumni program. Set in Arkansas in 1957, the complexities of identity, yearnings for love and acceptance, and racial tension are all unmasked in this riveting literary drama.

Buy your copy now and read it at your own pace this summer. Then, on Tuesday, August 29 at 5:00 p.m., UHS Academic Dean Kate Garrett will host a livestream book discussion with Tracy, delving into the historical and literary themes. Alumni friends and family, UHS parents, and UHS faculty and staff are all welcome to participate, as well!

A lifelong writer, Tracy cites Joseph Campbell's Hero Journey, taught by Fred Hoerner in her UHS sophomore English class, as a major influence on her work. Click here to buy the book and read more about Tracy.
