FRENCH Summer READING

(updated June 14, 2017)

The study of French at UHS emphasizes grammatical accuracy, vocabulary acquisition, and precision of communication as a means of achieving the close reading, analysis, and appreciation of literary and journalistic texts. It is therefore important for our students to develop strong reading skills. For this reason, we require them to read one book in French over the summer. Below, you will find the title of the book that students need to read according to their level of study. All of these books are part of the French program and will be reviewed in class during the fall semester. We advise you to order your book in June, as it can sometimes take more than two weeks to receive them. Students entering French I don't need to read anything over the summer.
