Theater
Our Theater program offers students a wide variety of experiences
in acting, theater production and technical theater. The department produces three major shows and hosts a Spring Student Drama Series, which highlights advanced student work.
In the Theater program, you can:
Learn to act and perform on stage
Choreograph musical numbers
Produce or direct a show
Design and create stage sets
Manage lights, sounds or props for a production
Become a young playwright
Theater beyond UHS
UHS performed at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival
Students have been finalists in Magic Theater’s Launch Pad playwriting contest and Beach Blanket Babylon’s Scholarship for Acting
Students regularly attend summer programs in theater, including: Northwestern University’s High School Institute in Theater, New York University’s CAP 21 program in musical theater and CSSSA’s acting program
Bay Area professionals come in to work with students on various aspects of acting
