San Francisco University High School Is Proud to Present:
THE FALL CONCERT!

Come celebrate the UHS Music Program and its many musicians at our annual Fall Concert on Friday, November 7, at 7 PM in the UHS Theater. The Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, Chorale, Camerata, Chamber Orchestra, and the Satonics will be sharing their work at this special event.

The UHS Chamber Orchestra has kicked off the fall with energy and growth, and we’re excited to share the results! This year, we’ve welcomed an entire cello section and a French horn into the group for the very first time, which has truly expanded and enriched our sound. Our musicians have tackled a wide range of challenging pieces, working hard on everything from precise technique to the art of supporting each other musically. We can’t wait to present this year’s ambitious repertoire at our Fall Concert—featuring exhilarating works like Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Violins in D Major, Howard Hanson’s Symphony No. 2 "Romantic", “Everything” by Larry Clark, and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1 I Movement.

The 2025-2026 Jazz Combo Class is excited to present an array of Jazz classics and newly written/arranged pieces at the Fall Concert! The up-tempo swing of Lunch at The Spot, the rock/backbeat groove of Charlie Jams Again (both written by Dean Sorenson), and a piece dedicated to the great band leader, composer, and pianist Count Basie entitled Basie's Blues written by Jim Snidero. The band will feature of variety of soloists on each composition as well as arrangements provided by director Terrence Brewer. The 2025-2026 Jazz Ensemble is a powerful band that has started the year off with some complex and energetic compositions. The Cool One, written by Jazz legend Benny Golson, features great rhythm section and percussion work in a composition that alternates between Afro Cuban and Swing grooves. Listen Here is an arrangement by Zachary Smith of the Soul-Jazz classic by saxophonist Eddie Harris, and Easy To Love is an up-tempo cooker that, originally written by one of America's all-time great composers Cole Porter, is arranged here by Paul Baker.

We’ll also hear 5 selections from UHS’ Vocal Groups: Chorale and Camerata. And finally, UHS’ very own student-led a Capella group, The Satonics, will perform Baby One More Time by Brittney Spears and How Deep Is Your Love by the Bee Gees!
