THE FALL CONCERT!
Come celebrate the UHS Music Program and its many musicians at our annual Fall Concert on Friday, November 8, at 7 PM in the UHS Theater. The Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, Chorale, Chamber Orchestra, and the Satonics will be sharing their work at this special event.
In the first concert of the 2024-25 school year Chamber Orchestra will showcase the talent of our ensemble by presenting highly difficult works such as Allis Volat Propiis by Soon Hee Newbold, Argent Edge by Doug Spata, Orchid Fantasy by Yukiko Nakamura and Symphony No.1 1st Movement by Sergei Prokofiev arranged by Lynne Latham. The Orchestra began the year with the outstanding news that we have, for the first time
in UHS history, 18 players in the orchestra and a Harp Player. The Chamber Orchestra has shown commendable progress this quarter toward our goal of taking the ensemble to play in festivals outside of the school.
Join the UHS Jazz Combo class as we explore the dynamic and trend-setting music of Jazz legends Horace Silver (pianist/composer), Nat Adderley (trumpeter/composer), and trumpeter/composer Fredie Hubbard. The Jazz Ensemble will perform a Mercer Ellington/Duke Ellington classic, an Afro-Cuban big-bang arrangement with Caribbean style and flair, and a groovin' funk/rock jam featuring the trumpet section. From a traditional Zambian Folk song to an a Cappella arrangement of a classic Hoagy Carmichael tune to a selection from Hamilton - Chorale will be performing pieces of multiple genres this Fall! Join us for some engaging musical moments. And finally, UHS’ very own student-led a Capella group, The Satonics, will perform as well!
We hope to see you there!
