WHAT: THE FALL CONCERT 2023
WHEN: Friday, November 10 at 7 PM
WHERE: the UHS Theater, 3150 Washington Street, San Francisco
This concert is FREE and OPEN TO ALL!
The first concert of the 2023-24 school year will see Chamber Orchestra performing February: Carnival from The Seasons by Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Oblivion by Astor Piazzolla with Quincy Nash playing the violin solo, Coriolanus Overture by Ludwig Van Beethoven and Dance of the Tumblers from the Opera Snow Maiden by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. The concert will also hear the Jazz Combo performing timeless Jazz, Soul/Jazz classics by Jazz Legends John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, and Nat Adderley. The 2023-2024 Jazz Ensemble will perform music that spans the Great American Song Book era (1920’s-30’s Broadway/Tin Pan Alley), a classic Afro-Cuban composition, a quintessential Duke Ellington/Billy Strayhorn composition, and an all-time 70’s funk classic! Advanced Choir will perform vocal pieces from different places, time periods, and from a variety of different genres. From modern arrangements of Venezuelan folk songs, to even an excerpt from the Mozart Opera "Le Nozze di Figaro", Advanced Choir will adapt tone and timbre as they venture through a variety of vocal music. And finally, UHS’ very own student-led a Capella group, The Satonics, will be singing "When The Party's Over" by Billie Eilish.
We hope to see you there!
