Breakthrough Summerbridge and San Francisco University High School are proud to welcome Shaina Patel to the Breakthrough Summerbridge team as our new Director of Programming and Instruction. Shaina is an experienced teacher who has taught at charter and public middle and high schools in San Jose and Oakland, and internationally in India. She brings with her an enthusiasm for serving first-generation college students and underrepresented populations. Additionally, as an instructional leader and new teacher mentor, she brings with her skills in leading and supporting the development and implementation of an engaging, culturally responsive curriculum. 

Shaina holds a Teaching Credential in Secondary English and a Masters in Education from Mills College, Oakland, CA, and earned a B.A. in Ethnic Studies and a B.A. in International Studies from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).
