Upper Campus

UPPER CAMPUS

Upper Campus on Jackson Street is the academic and administrative heart of UHS. The original home of UHS, Upper houses the History, English, and Responsive Education Departments, as well as the offices of College Counseling, Communications, Development, and the Head of School. Upper Campus is the school’s original building, designed by visionary architect Julia Morgan and constructed in 1917. Originally purchased from the Katherine Delmar Burke School, Upper Campus has an enduring character and thoughtful design to support a vibrant environment for learning, collaboration, and leadership.

MIDDLE CAMPUS

Middle Campus: A Hub for the Performing Arts

Performing arts are a cornerstone of the UHS curriculum, with many students completing the equivalent of six years of performing arts courses during their four years at the school. With the expansion of the California Campus came the opportunity to reimagine the area behind the theater in Middle Campus. The former science labs have been fully remodeled and replaced with: a dedicated jazz music room soundproof practice spaces flexible rehearsal areas music instructor offices instrument storage tech spaces for sets and props These enhancements elevate experiences for students across all performing arts disciplines, ensuring that our facilities match the excellence of our programs.

Sacramento Campus

Sacramento Campus, formerly known as South Campus, was originally designed to maximize classroom space, but has lacked areas for students to gather outside of class. With the ULab moving to its new home on California Street, the unique opportunity arose to create space for a student lounge featuring natural light, gallery space for visual arts, and food options. This new lounge is a vibrant hub for students, with easy access to fresh food and opportunities for social interaction. Adjacent to the lounge is dedicated office space for the Breakthrough Summerbridge program. This new configuration also allows for a more visible administrative presence at the entrance of the building.

Lower Campus

Lower Campus: Fitness, Collaboration, and a Vision for the Future

Lower Campus has long been the center of our athletics program, in addition to housing classrooms, and our recent redesign greatly enhances our ability to support and develop our student-athletes. The basement features a state-of-the-art fitness center, equipped with a broad range of equipment to serve the diverse needs of our athletes. The fitness center and adjoining training center allow our staff to work with individual athletes and entire teams to promote effective, healthy, and safe strength and conditioning practices. Surrounding the fitness center are team rooms and offices for coaches and athletic staff, creating a cohesive hub for athletic development.

California street campus

Opened in June 2025, 3150 California Street is a 50,000 square foot expansion of University's campus.
