Policy on Institutional Statements

At San Francisco University High School, we engage our community of diverse voices in thoughtful discourse which encompasses a wide range of differing, and sometimes conflicting, perspectives. Our mission is to strengthen a sense of purpose larger than self by helping students to develop critical thinking skills, empathy, and independent thought. As a policy, to promote open dialogue we avoid taking institutional political stances. 

In responding to current events beyond our walls, we focus internal communications to students and employees on acknowledging the impacts of those events on our community members, and our commitment to care for each other’s well-being.  We limit externally directed institutional statements to those that explain or support meaningful action we are taking outside of our school community.
