Students are encouraged to take initiative to develop all-school activities that promote fun and provide a change of pace. We believe that the process of empowering students to create meaningful—and fun!—events provides them with an opportunity to demonstrate responsibility and take ownership over positively influencing school culture.

Clubs and Affinity Groups

Students at UHS have the opportunity to pursue their passions and gather with other students and adults for activities and discussions based on these interests. The daily schedule was designed to allow students time to meet. Every year, students invent new clubs and have fun trying out new things.

During a typical lunchtime period you might expect to find:

  • The Devil's Advocate, the school newspaper
  • Students for Women's Equality and Rights Affinity Club
  • Medical Club
  • Dungeons and Dragons Club
  • Financial Aid Affinity Space
  • Black Student Union
  • VOX Art Publication
  • Men's Group
  • Ocean Club
  • Interfaith Club
  • Mental Health Coalition
