UHS Music Community,

It has been, and continues to be, an honor and a pleasure to work with the UHS Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo groups. Their dedication to the music and to the UHS Jazz program truly makes my job worthwhile and fulfilling. I thank them for their inspiration, all of the laughter, and the wonderful memories we have created in our quest to uplift this music we all love so much – Jazz.

To the UHS Jazz Seniors…

August Burnett (Guitar), Sebastian Fischer (Guitar), Jacob MacGregor (Clarinet), Warwick Price (Clarinet/Saxophone), Marcus Sacks (Drums), Max Solmssen (Trumpet), Maya Swain (Guitar), Rohan Vasishth (Drums)

Thank you for your years of hard work, creativity, dedication to the program/the music. Tim and I, both, appreciate you and will miss your presence on campus, in the band room, and on that stage! <3

Tribute video to Tim Price from our Jazz Program students

Hello UHS students, staff, faculty and families!

The UHS Jazz Program is proud to bring you a collection of the work we created this year for the 2020 Spring Arts Festival. While we would much rather be presenting a live Jazz performance to you to close out the year, the Jazz Program is honored to share our previous two 2019 concerts and these two amazing, student curated, Spotify Playlists.

Spotify Project

Upon entering mandated shelter-in-place status and beginning the process of working from home I, immediately, noticed how much more music I was listening to as a part of my daily process. Instantly I was struck by the idea of documenting the ‘soundtrack to the pandemic’. This idea, along with the profound understanding of how music can heal, transport, comfort, inspire, engage, and act as a voice, I assigned the Jazz Combo and Jazz Ensemble musicians to submit a song each class that was helping them, in some way, to stay inspired, engaged, comforted, and would speak as our collective voice. What has resulted are two completely student-curated playlists, combined totaling over 17 hours of music, that will speak for them in the absence of their ability to communicate live and in-person from the UHS theater.

We miss you all, are wishing you and those close to you well, and will see you in-person and under the lights again soon!
