Job Search Tools

You're invited to join the **NEW** SFUHS.Alumnifire, our new networking platform that will help UHS alumni open doors for one another. If you believe in our network and its capacity to help drive value for all alumni, Alumnifire is for you!

We've been researching closed-network alumni platforms for years, and Alumnifire is far and away the best fit for an Alumni Association of our size (most alumni networking apps are designed for large undergraduate institutions).

We soft-launched in October 2020, and plan to publicize it widely in the coming months.

How is Alumnifire different from LinkedIn?

  • Alums can contact each other without being officially "connected"
  • Alums can offer one or more services to each other like general career advice, introductions & networking, informational interviews, and resume reviews
  • Alums who are hiring managers can post open jobs and internships
  • Alums can ask the community for jobs and internships in their chosen field
  • Alums can create affinity groups dedicated to professional interests
  • Alums can view jobs at companies where fellow alums work so members can quickly navigate potential opportunities with ease
  • Alums can plan, publish and host their own networking or PR events

We've heard from young alums that they find LinkedIn somewhat intimidating, so we're excited about these features (and more) that make it easy to network on Alumnifire.

UHS Alumni on LinkedIn
First, add "San Francisco University High School" to the education section of your LinkedIn profile. Important: our logo must show! If you don't see our logo, delete University and add it back. Including your grad year optional. WARNING! Some LinkedIn members falsely claim they attended UHS. If you aren't sure, send an email to UHSalumni@sfuhs.org to ask.

Next, join over 1,400 alumni and become a member of our private LinkedIn networking group. You can use this group to introduce yourself to a fellow alum or ask Marianna Stark, director of alumni engagement and giving, to facilitate the introduction on your behalf. Once you've requested permission to join (formalities!), you can make announcements, start a discussion, or post a job opening with your company. Click here to join our LinkedIn group. Everyone in this group is an authentic alum of UHS.

Finally, send an invitation to connect with Marianna Stark '89, UHS director of alumni engagement and giving, to exponentially grow your access to alumni on LinkedIn.

Learn How to Rock Your Profile on LinkedIn
Want to give your LinkedIn profile a refresh? We happen to have an expert in the family: Aaron Fung '00, talent brand consultant and professional storyteller with LinkedIn, who hosted a one-hour "Rock Your Profile" interactive seminar over videoconference for our community earlier this year. Rock Your Profile sessions are designed to help people put their best professional foot forward to connect with peers, find a new job, or introduce themselves to a new organization. CLICK HERE to watch the seminar on our YouTube station.

Build Your Résumé

We've developed some DIY resources (rules for résumé-building and an example of a résumé) so high school students can create a first draft on their own—then attend a clinic for further refinement. This simple set of instructions gives advice on how to write a one-pager résumé in a professional format, with tips on how to include volunteer, academic, and all types of work experience.
