Library

The only thing that you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library.

Albert Einstein

The Dennis A. Collins library is at the heart of San Francisco University High School’s middle campus. It is a glorious light-filled space where students are welcome to work and hang out during their free periods and before and after school.

In the nonstop tsunami of global information, librarians provide us with floaties and teach us to swim.”

Linton Weeks

Students are introduced to research early in 9th grade. Through regular lessons in the library, they learn how to use both primary and secondary sources to answer their self-directed research questions using print and digital sources. Throughout high school, we support students to develop the skills to discern between source types, understand how to build and deepen their understanding of a topic, and how to turn that understanding into a paper grounded in reliable information.

Feel free to check out our library catalog and our extensive collection of research guides on our Libguides page. We welcome all and any questions – please come in and ask!

Our extensive collection is dynamic responding to curricular needs, as well as to student and faculty interests. Covering a wide range of topics, we have books for academic support and for pleasure reading. Beyond these traditional resources, our students have access to thousands of online periodicals, reference works, and databases through our network of online subscriptions

Meet the librarians

As librarians, we aim to be friendly faces and our objectives are to provide students with all the resources they need to become confident and competent researchers and to support them in creating lifetime reading habits.

We welcome all and any questions – please come in and ask!
