Technology is strategically and thoughtfully integrated into every department and program at University High School. A Technology Office of four full-time staff maintains the school's technology infrastructure, while three members of our faculty provide support to other faculty in their use of technology for teaching and learning.
Our faculty enthusiastically embraces technology applications that enhance student acquisition, analysis, and presentation of information, and the Mathematics Department offers AP Computer Science-A (Java) as an elective. Recent examples of how UHS teachers have integrated technology into their classrooms include the creation of customized iBooks and videos as learning tools, use of the ShowMe iPad app to illustrate physics concepts, and asking students to record their own audio interpretations of The Catcher in the Rye.
UHS has been a 1:1 device school since the Fall of 2011 when it rolled out iPads to all students. Starting with the 2015–16 school year, UHS has broadened its student technology program to a 1:1 BYOD (bring your own device) program.
